So we had a customer call us wanting her Audi Q3 Matte Black but didn’t want to pay $2500+ to have it vinyl wrapped. Her being a single mom wasn’t an option for her spraying it herself. Knowing that the Audi Q5 was a smaller SUV vs a sedan we picked the RAAIL AirWrap Truck Kit which is 6 gallons. This will ensure she has enough product on her car for durability and peel-abily. The fact that she is going with a Liquid Wrap vs Matte Black Vinyl Wrap, she will not have a crazy hard time peeling it. No heat gun and no left over glue or adhesive. Raail AirWrap is similar to Plasti Dip… Just designed for automotive coatings. I personally don’t own a compressor so I currently spray use a state 5 turbine (Mini Mite 5 with the Dipyourcar Plasti Dip gun). We always ask the customer to wash the car 24 hours prior with Dawn dish soap. The scent free stuff is perfect. After she dropped it off we started to prep the car with a micro fiber towel and PrepAll from PepBoys. Stuff works really well. $8 too. Now here comes the fun part. Let the spraying begin. I know this may sound funny but i always spray a different base color vs just all black. Spraying 6 gallons of the same color is no fun. So i did 2 gallons of Grey Raail AirWrap, 2 gallons of Black AirWrap and 2 Gallons of Jet Black with one matting agent drop-in. The matting agent in the last 2 gallons gave the finish a nice matte flat look vs the standard satin finish. She wanted matte so she got matte. Once I let that dry completely i started to unmask everything. Took it out side and got some good pictures. Overall she loves the car. Who would of thought a soccer mom wanting a Matte Black Audi Q5. Looked like it come out of a Marvel Movie.
